The Era of Classic Consoles

Remember Nintendo’s Classic Console, that nifty little micro-console that comes pre-packed with 20 classic Nintendo games? Well, Sony decided to follow suit and create their own version filled with 20 original PlayStation games. But you likely already knew that.

The real meat and potatoes here are which twenty games Sony decided to include on the classic console. Truth be told, their choices may shock you a little bit.

PlayStation Classic Games List

**This list may be subject to change.

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr. Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal
  • Wild Arms

Oh, The Nostalgia

While one of these games on the list is sure to trigger some major nostalgia for you, it’s fair to say that the list feels a little bit lacking. Many are asking why classics such as “Spyro”, “Crash Bandicoot” and “Gran Turismo” weren’t added? To be fair, who knows what type of licensing ordeals Sony had to consider to make the classic console happen.

Either way, we’re glad the PlayStation Classic is a thing and look forward to its release.

PlayStation Classic Release Date

The PlayStation Classic console releases on Dec 3rd, 2018 and retails for $99.00 USD. The console is approximately 45% smaller than the original PlayStation and comes with two wired (USB) controllers.
